Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Welcome The New Htc Hd Mini
There’s no question that many of the best mobile phones in the market, be they smartphones or not, come from the flagship and high end models in any brand. That’s understandable as they often become a test bed for cutting edge features and technologies.
But after a while, once the demand takes root and becomes successfully in the market, you soon see new models in humbler packaging and watered-down features whose affordability allows these cutting edge features to reach a wider more price sensitive markets.
That’s what predicates those Lite and Mini version of full featured models. The recent Mobile World Congress just concluded saw a number of these tamer versions like the XPERIA X10 Minis which are dwarf minimized versions of the beefier and more powerful X10.
HTC has one with the HTC HD Mini which is a mini of the larger HD2 released late last year and have taken in some market following so that a mini version could extend the same features to a wider market.
Almost an HD2 in Sheep’s Clothing
The stunning 4.3-inch Wide-VGA display on the HD2 is shrunk to a mere 3.2-inch half-VGA display. But that’s understandable if you shrink the body to compact size. You still get the same multitouch input and capacitive touchscreen technologies, gravity accelerometer, proximity and ambient light sensors.
And because you won’t need that much CPU-intensive graphics on a large display, a 600 MHz Qualcomm 7227 processor can do the job as the 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon used on the HD2. Other than that, the HD Mini is basically your HD2.
It’s the same quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE on 2G and a dual band UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA on 3G that work for the Asian and European markets. You get the same WiFi with DLNA and WiFi router support. It comes with the same Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and microUSB2.0 for local data synching. Then there’s A-GPS with digital compass and proprietary HTC Footprint
Imaging starts with the same 5 megapixel autofocus snapper with widescreen photo capture and geo tagging. The data sheet is silent on its video recording capability. Its entertainment features comes form the same media playback support for popular audio and video codecs including DivX. You also get stereo FM with RDS, 3.5 mm headphone jack and Bluetooth A2DP support.
It comes with the same 512 MB ROM with a slightly reduced 384 MB RAM from the HD2′s 448 MB RAM. There’s microSD memory expansion capability for up to 32 GB. You get up to 7 hours of talking on the same a 1200 mAh Li-Ion battery that also allows up to 12 hours of music listening and 14 days on standby on a single full charge.
Availability
HTC has made it known during the last Mobile Phone Congress that the HTC HD Mini will be headed to Asian and European markets starting in April. No other body colors except the black will be available. While no pricing or carrier deal information was disclosed during the congress, we can safely use the current HD2 price as an indication and with a minimized set of features, we don’t expect the HD Mini to even come close to it.
