With its striking appearance due to its minimalistic styling, the recently released LG GD880 Mini offers aesthetic appeal along with a super impressive list of specifications with key features ranging from touchscreen technology, Wi-Fi Internet access and a 5 mega pixel digital camera.
The LG GD880 Mini relies primarily on class 10 versions of both EDGE and GPRS to connect it to cellular networks which allows voice calls and messages to be sent and received. Access to the Internet relies initially on 3G coverage whereby an HSDPA connection provides access to the Internet at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second (along with a HSUPA connection at 2 MB per second). A faster connection can be attained thanks to Wi-Fi Technology which utilises the signals emitted by wireless Internet routers to provide an enhanced browsing experience. In order to connect to compatible hardware devices, both Bluetooth and micro USB connections are provided as standard which allow a number of tasks to be carried out.
An impressive digital camera is at the heart of the LG GD880 Mini. Boasting 5 mega pixels, it produces extremely high quality still images thanks to its high pixel resolution. Taking memorable snapshots is a breeze thanks to the inclusion of a number of image enhancing features such as Autofocus, face & smile detection and image stabilisation. Users can even be reminded of where they took a photo thanks to geo-tagging which operates thanks to GPS. Of course the camera can also shoot video and this is in VGA quality at a rate of 30 frames per second and also features a video called camera so video calls can be made between compatible handsets.
In order to store data such as media files and documents, 330 MB of internal storage is provided as standard along with a micro SD slot. The latter can be utilised to gain further storage simply by installing a memory card of up to 32 GB. The internal phonebook can store up to 1000 entries and boasts the popular Photocall feature which allows a photo to be assigned to each contact within the phonebook and this in turn is displayed on the screen whenever that person is in touch.
A long list of features provides the LG GD880 Mini with a high degree of everyday versatility in functionality meaning it offers appeal to a number of different types of user. Business users are sure to appreciate applications such as a document viewer (compatible with word, excel, PowerPoint and PDF files) and a voice memo recorder along with a handy organiser. Social networkers are catered for with social networking integration with light updates meaning they can stay connected to friends and family with the minimum of fuss. Entertainment wise the handset offers a versatile internal media player which supports many different formats of music and video files along with a stereo FM radio player and a number of pre-installed games.
This compact handset boasts a 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen which, thanks to a pixel layout of 480x 854 pixels, boasts the ability to display up to 256K colours resulting in top notch display quality of on screen imagery.
The LG GD880 Mini is arguably the most attractive handsets to date from the manufacturer, and while this alone is sure to win over many fans, tech savvy users are also catered for thanks to the impressive spec list.
