The HTC HD mini is a visual stunner with full touchscreen capability on its front display. Above the display screen, you will find the HTC trademark, whilst at the lower portion, are the function keys such as call key, home key, Windows select key, back key, and the end key. If you look at the phone’s back panel, you will find the camera lens occupying the top centre position. Just below the camera’s lens, the HTC logo is provided.
Design, Display and Outstanding Features
The chassis of the HD mini has a sleek design and is available in black. It has a clear and brilliant display with full touchscreen capability. The touchscreen uses Thin Film Transistor (TFT) technology capable of churning out 65,000 colours with a pixel resolution of 320 x 480.
Some of the outstanding features of the display include an accelerometer sensor to autorotate the display, a proximity sensor for turn off the device automatically, multi-touch support, and the Sense user interface. The handset may be compact but has a solid feel in your hand. The phone’s overall dimension is 103.8mm x 57mm x 11.7mm and weighs a mere 110 grams, which in itself is truly amazing.
The camera has become an essential part in today’s mobile handsets. With a high-end mobile phone like the HD mini, consumers likewise expect to get a high-end camera built in. The HD mini doesn’t disappoint in this area as it packs in a 5 megapixel camera capable of producing high quality photos.
The camera comes with autofocus feature and has an impressive 2592 x 1944 pixels resolution. Video recording is also featured but a second camera on the front panel is not provided.
Multimedia Capability
Along with the camera, two other entertainment features are provided in the HD mini. For music lovers, a high-quality audio player is built in where the user can playback sound or music in various audio formats like MP3, AAC+, WAV, and WMA9. There is also an integrated movie player for video buffs who want their movies on the go. The video formats supported include MP4, DivX, WMV9, H.263 and H.264. As a bonus, a stereo FM with RDS is also thrown in.
Social networkers will be pleased as the HD mini can allow them to access their social network sites such as MySpace, Twitter, or Facebook, among others. The handset also comes with a rechargeable 1200 mAh Lithium-ion polymer battery with a talk time of up to 435 minutes and standby time of up to 500 hours. The battery can provide video playback up to 8 hours and audio playback up to 12 hours.
Memory Capacity
The internal memory of the HTC HD mini comes with a 512 MB ROM and 348 MB RAM. This would be adequate to store a ton of phone book entries and call records. However, if you need to store a lot of images, videos, music files, and games, then the memory won’t be sufficient enough.
The HD mini comes with a memory expansion slot where you can insert a microSD card to expand your storage capacity up to 32 gigabytes. Now that’s a lot of space.
