Works fairly well but if you want perfect sound, go with a wired solution. I used the setup to connect two receivers about 20 feet away. I’m going from the upstairs lofted area down into the main level. I wanted to have the same music playing on both levels.

Even though the lag is small, it is noticeable when you stand between the two speakers. Sounds like an echo. I’m sure this would be okay if the speakers were in different rooms where you could only hear one set at a time. I also noticed skips in the sound every once in a while. I do live in the city condo where there are many wireless networks to compete with.

I think the quality of this product is good, but my conditions are not ideal for it.

I am extremely happy with this system. Talk about plug and play, couldn’t be easier. My basic use is playing music from my computer through my JVC receiver and in turn through the speaker system. Sound quality is great whether I play from my music collection or listen to on-line radio. Haven’t used the remote as really not necessary for my use. Great Product and well worth the money.

Simple

The system works well and has a simple interface. However, Mac users beware of the available track changing feature, it doesn’t work as well as it should. The sound quality is great but a built in pre-amp would be nice so that you don’t have to turn up your main sound as much. Very simple and effective over all for putting music from your computer to a stereo in another part of the house without spending the money on a wi-fi transmitter.

Absoutely everything I hoped for

At this price, what my husband and I now affectionately refer to as “the gizmo” seemed too good to be true. But I was wrong. This device does everything it advertised. I wish it had come with better instructions, but that’s about the only complaint.

The transmitter plugs straight into the computer’s USB port, and we hooked the receiver end into our stereo receiver using the “tape” function (as mentioned by a previous commenter, the “phono” function distorts the sound). Because of the gizmo, we can finally listen to the Beatles remastered discs from the USB Apple (released last Christmas) in 24-bit sound. The music goes straight from the computer to the receiver/speakers. And with the booster enhancement, even regular MP3 files sound much richer.

We have a NetGear wireless router, and it wasn’t at all affected. The only difference that we noted was that we couldn’t connect our iPod Touch wirelessly while the gizmo was on. But the laptop works fine. The sound quality is great, and there hasn’t been any skipping. This will play from Pandora, Windows Media Player, iTunes and VLC Media Player.

I would recommend this in a heartbeat.

They Kept it Simple

This product exceeded my expectations. It is well made and is very logical and simple to setup and use. The sound quality is very good with just a very slight decrease in fidelity when compared to a hard wired connection. The setup is flawless and I have experienced no interference or noise problems. I paid for it and think the pricing was right. I am considering purchasing additional receiver units to use in the garage and other parts of the house. Thank you Creative for such a great and intuitive product.

Does just what it says

I love gadgets. This is a gadget that I really like. It is very useful, and it makes listening to my digital collection a breeze. It could use some improvement, but there’s not much that could be done to make it better. First off, it was very simple to set up. just plug and play right out of the box. Only a couple of cords to pug in and you’re ready to listen. No charging, inserting discs, or setting up. It was easy as 1 2 3. I read a review that said something about losing wireless connectivity while using this system, but i have not had any problems. I listen to music while surfing the web without so much as even a hiccup. The only problem I have had is the noise that i can hear in the background at lower volumes. I can’t say for sure if it’s the X-Mod. I haven’t gone through to test where it could be coming from. It could be the stereo. It isn’t exactly top of the line. Overall, I would recommend this product if you are looking for a cost efficient way to wirelessly listen to your music.

It does what it says

I found this product to work straight away. Just plugged in both units and they connected. Transmitter in the loft and receiver in the lounge downstairs behind a 52″ TV in a corner. I found it automatically grabs the sound output from whatever else is plugged into the computer for producing sound. (I have a local 3-speaker Bose system connected to the computer.I purchased the creative system to push music to my Bose system in the lounge.) Getting the Creative system to release hold and default back to the Bose system is done by right-clicking the speaker icon in the system tray, choosing playback devices (Vista OS) and setting the default back to the local Bose system. You can connect the units to any computer system or sound system you like. Just unplug and plug-in somewhere else.

I was concerned about reports that signal strength is so great it interferes with router Wi-Fi talking to other devices. Yes, it does interfere. I only use a Wi-Fi laptop. It doesn’t kill Tx-Rx between the laptop and the router but it slows it down considerably. For example, web pages take longer to load. The solution in my case, when I want to use the laptop, is to disconnect the Creative transmitter from whichever computer it is connected to in the loft. If fact, I leave it unplugged most of the time and only connect the transmitter when I want to transmit sound to the lounge.

This product is much better than previous ones I have bought to do the same thing.

Got my third one now, and given them as gifts !

I bought my first one of these four years ago. I paid 5 for it. And now I have three !

First off, the Wireless Trasmitter/Receiver feature works great, but don’t overlook the fact that the Transmitter is also a very high quality, 24-bit upconverting, USB External Sound Card. So, even when you’re just sitting there in front of your PC, the Sound Card’s Crystallizer really expands the compressed files (MP3′s, AAC’s, WMA’s, Streaming Audio from Pandora, etc.) that we all play these days. That’s the first thing I noticed: much better sound thru my Computer’s Speakers in my home office.

So, the next thing was the Wireless. I hooked up the Wireless Receiver to my Home Theater Receiver, and got even better sound thru my Home Theater, wirelessly from my PC. I’m really rockin’ now. And, I’ve got the same thing playing in two rooms of the home. Then, 6 months ago, I saw the price reduction, and it hit me – I could now buy these for about a third of the original price. So I bought two more (just for the Wireless Receivers): one for the Bedroom (plays thru my little shelf system there), and another for the Garage (plays thru an old boombox w/ Aux Inputs). Now, on weekends, I can listen to Pandora, or Podcasts, or WMP/iTunes, in every room in the house, plus the Garage ! Parties have never been better – I don’t have to blast the Home Theater to get the tunes to be heard everywhere !

This left me with two extra Transmiter/Sound Cards. Gave one to a friend with a crappy sound card in his laptop – he loves it ! The other went with me to my real Office, to use with my laptop there.

I also have given a new set to a friend as a birthday present. He’s got a music-laden laptop in the kitchen area, and now he (and his wife and two iTune-crazed kids) can now transmit the tunes to the Home Theater in the adjacent room during mealtimes.

At this price, this is a great thing !
